Money is in the list

Hey,

I'm back in touch again this Thursday with more online marketing tips.

I'll be brief today. Let's talk about Email Marketing.

Building a list of subscribers for email marketing is one of the MOST fundamental strategies online. It is also pretty boring, so many people tend to overlook it.

In fact, building an optin list that you can market and re-market to, is a core component of any business. Whether you use GetResponse, iContact, Constant Contact or Aweber, it's an essential.

The reason is it becomes your silent-ever-present salesperson, available 24/7 365 to stay in front of people.

Much like this message right now. :)

But make sure your email followup process provides the reader with solid takeaway and value.

There's no need focusing on Facebook and Twitter when you're lacking a simple core strategy such as building your opt-in lists. In my view, your subscriber lists trumps ANYTHING and everything social media related today.

Short and sweet and hope it helps.

Talk next time.

Here's Another Tip That's Kind of Like Mind-Reading...

Hey,

What's up! I hope everything is well with you lately.

If you've got a minute, I've got another great tip I'd like to share with you. It has to do with "mind-reading".

Here's what I mean:

When writing content online, whether it's for your blog, article websites, or whatever, the best thing you can do is talk about a subject that people are just dying to know about. Wouldn't it be cool if you knew exactly what people were complaining about, or needed help on, so you could be the one to give them the answers?

Of course!

Now, you're probably thinking that I'm going to say something like, "Ask your audience what they want to hear", which is definitely something you should do. But, what if you don't have an audience? Or, what if you do, but they're shy or just don't respond very much?

Then asking them won't do any good, will it? Here's my little strategy for finding out exactly what people in your niche want to know about, so when you finally publish your blog post, your articles or whatever, it will be like you're reading their minds. Here's what to do:

1. In whatever niche you're in, look for forums where people in your niche get together. The best way to do this is to go into Google and type:

forum:niche

So for example, for the fly fishing niche, you'd type in:

forum:fly fishing (make sure you type in "forum", and not "forums").

Google will give you a huge list of all the top forums in the niche, usually ordered by popularity.

2. Go into one of the forums, and look for a search tool, or a search field that will let you search for certain terms that people have written in the forum posts. Some forums allow visitors or guests to perform searches without registering, while others require you to register first.

You might as well register anyways, since it's only the place where more of your audience hangs out, right? Rocking it in a forum and becoming an authority there to feed your website is a whole different story. Anyways, I digress...

3. In the search field, type in some the following terms and see what you come up with:

"advice about"
"I hate it when"
"I need help with"
"can anyone help me"
"I'm looking for"
 "really bad"
"desperate for"
"can't find"
"have no clue"
"newbie"
"question about"
There's a number of other terms that you can search for that all fit the same kind of idea, but I think you understand what's going on here.

When you search for these terms (note: you may also have to fill out one of those spam captcha letter verification thingies too), more than likely you're going to get a series of forum threads that have someone in need of something.

...and there's your next blog post. Or, and there's your next eBook. The possibilities are endless of what you can find hidden in these forums, but if you really want to become an authority in your niche, you're going to have to give the masses exactly what they want to see, and this is one way to do it, even before you have a blog running.

When I search through the fly fishing forums, for example, here are some of the things I found:

Threads that were named:
A Newb With Some Questions
Spey / Switch Need Help
Need Advice About Sages (I don't know what sages are)
Rod Sensitivity vs. Long Casting
Questions on Building a Fly Rod
How awesome is that?

And this was just from one of the terms. Some terms may offer no results, while with others you may strike gold.

And here's a bonus tip: If the threads you find were relatively recent, you can write a blog post or article specifically addressing the need or the problem, and then go into the thread itself as a user and give a brief answer/solution, and then link to your article for more information.

That's instant (highly-targeted) traffic.

Sweet!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed this addition of "Another tip from Pat".

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks again, viet! Cheers!

TYPE your way to $10k...

Hi ,

Welcome to the first issue of the "$10k Every Month" crash course!

Here's a direct path to $10,000 monthly:

Create and sell your own information products.

Many people who are just starting out don't even realize that they have knowledge that other people would be willing and even eager to pay for - and chances are, there's a book in you that could make you rich! Maybe:

You've lost a lot of weight and could teach others to do the same. You know how to stretch the family budget. You could teach others how to create and sell crafts. You know how to get into graduate school. You know how breed and raise poodles.

The above list includes just five ideas... but the sky is the limit!

Take time to brainstorm your interests and talents, and you'll quickly discover that you know a lot about a particular topic.

So once you've figured out what to write about, what do you do next?

Below is a step-by-step overview of the entire process. Remember that most of what you see on the list below can be outsourced to competent freelancers:

1) Research the market to ensure your idea is profitable. You're goal isn't to find a market and give them a product that requires them to first be educated about why they need this product. That's the long, hard and expensive way of making money. Instead, your goal is to choose a hungry niche... and then give them a product that they're ALREADY buying.

2) Research the competition so you can develop a better product. Now, you don't want to just give your market the exact same product as the competitors are delivering to the customers. You want to make your product unique - and you want to make it better. So your next step is to research the competitors' products to discover how you can improve upon the products the market is already buying.

3) Create the product. Next, it's time to take action. Shut the ringer off on your phones, lock the door, close your email... and start typing. Start with an outline and a goal to write XXXX of words per day. Then keep typing until you finish your ebook - don't worry about editing, because you can do that once the draft is finished.

Quick Tip: If you don't like to type, then try a voice-to-text product like Dragon Naturally Speaking.

If creating the product doesn't sound like something you want to do yourself, then outsource the task.

4) Set up your website, including a lead-capture system. Next, you need to write a sales letter that sells your ebook and upload it to a web page. You'll also want to set up a squeeze page with an autoresponder as a means to get your visitors to join your newsletter list. This is important, because most people won't buy your ebook the first time they visit your site - the money is in your list!

5) Set up your backend sales system. Most people don't get rich selling just one product. Instead, they find their wealth is hidden in the backend of their business - this is where existing customers buy more products and more expensive products from you.

As such, even as you create your first product, you need to also be developing your backend sales system. You should set up various ways to contact and pitch additional products to your existing customers, such as by email, postal mail, membership site forums, blogs or even through links in the products they've already purchased.

And there you have it - the five-step path to riches.

It's not a complicated process. Indeed, you can boil it down to a few words:

Find a hungry market and give them what they want.

Heeding the advice in the last line will put you on your path to $10,000 a month

TAP into the Backend automatically..

Hi,

Welcome to the third issue of the "$10k Every Month" crash course!

As you've already discovered from the previous two paths to riches, the money isn't in your products... it's in your list.

And the easiest money you'll ever make is by selling more products and more expensive products to your existing customers (i.e., sell on the "backend" of your business).

Smart marketers spend considerable amounts of time building their sales funnels (backend sales systems).

They know the hard part is getting the prospect into the funnel - but once the prospect starts buying, they'll continue to buy provided you're solving their problems and giving them a good buying experience.

And so savvy marketers are constantly coming up with new ideas, creating new products, and figuring out ways to convert their existing customers into repeat buyers.

Now imagine if you could sell a product to your customer once... and then do so automatically every month after that, with no additional persuasion on your part. Would that make it easier for you to run your business? And would you be able to make a whole lot more money? Yes and yes!

Fortunately, there already exists a way for you to tap into the backend income automatically and effortlessly.

Namely, by creating a monthly membership site.

Here's the idea - instead of selling a new product to your customers every month, you set up a membership site with a monthly fee. Your customers are billed automatically. And all you have to do is update the site once a month. You can even outsource this task, meaning you're earning a residual income almost on autopilot!

Just imagine setting up a membership site with a $20 monthly fee and getting just 500 customers. Each and every month your payment processor rebills these customers, and you earn another fast $10,000!

Here are just a few ideas for membership sites you could set up:

A site that offers a service, like web hosting. Or you could offer something like sales letter critiques or college essay critiques.

A site that offers lessons on a topic. For example, you could have a six-month or twelve-month course on how to get an online business up and running. Or you could offer a course on something like how to do home repairs and maintenance.

A site that offers a new product each month. Think of Time Life books here or the "Wine of the Month" club. Every month the customer receives a new product, and it doesn't have to be a physical product. It could be a series of related ebooks - perhaps "how to" nonfiction books, or a "romance ebook of the month" club!

Those are just a few ideas. You've no doubt been a part of some of these sites, such as sites that deliver new software to its members every month, sites that offer large discounts on niche products, sites that offer private label rights (PLR) products to resell, and so on.

All you have to do to get started is:

1) Choose a hungry niche.

2) Find out what they're already buying and what they want.

3) Set up a membership script and payment processor.

4) Set up a squeeze page and a sales page.

5) And then marketing OK

TAG and Ping your way to riches

Hi,

Can you turn mere words into $10,000 per month - without actually selling those words as an ebook or other information product? You bet you can!

Namely, by blogging your way to wealth!

Here's the idea:

You set up a niche blog that's of interest to a very specific audience. Then you monetize your blog in one or more of the following ways:

By promoting your own products to the people who visit your blog weekly or even daily.

By promoting affiliate products (i.e., other people's products).

By promoting CPA (cost per action) offers, where you get a commission every time your visitors perform a specific action such as filling out a form

By using Google Adsense , where you make money every time someone merely clicks on an ad on your site.

By asking for and accepting donations on your blog. (Don't discount this tactic - there are several well-known bloggers who make over $100,000 per year almost entirely through donations.)

So, how do you go about starting a blog that can bring you $10,000 per month? Here's an overview of the simple yet lucrative process:

1) First, choose a hungry niche. They should not only be hungry for information (so that they'll read your blog), but they should also be willing and eager to put money down to solve their problems or otherwise improve their lives. Figure out what they're already buying (which will help you decide how to monetize your blog).

2) Second, research the competition. Visit the busy, popular and profitable blogs in your niche to find out what makes them so popular and busy. Then figure out how to set your blog apart and make it better.

3) Next, buy a domain at NameCheap, GoDaddy or elsewhere that reflects the topic of your blog.

4) Fourth, go to WordPress.org and download the latest version of the blogging software. Install and customize it.

5) Next, start blogging! Populate your blog initially with about ten posts, just so your early visitors get the impression that you have a popular blog with good content. Then commit to updating your blog at least two or three times per week. If suitable, you may even want to update it daily.

Quick Tip: You don't have to sit by your blog every day and manually update it. You can pre-load content and "drip" it to your readers on a pre-set schedule. You can do this by either loading up the content and setting it for a future posting date, or by purchasing autoblogging software that does all the work for you.

Here's what else you need to know to start driving traffic and making money:

Optimize your posts for the search engines by creating articles around specific keywords. You may use WordTracker or any keyword tool to find out what niche keywords your market is already searching for.

"Tag" each of your posts using relevant keywords. WordPress allows you to add tags (keywords) automatically when you're posting your articles. You can also use your keywords as your category titles.

Ping the blog directories as necessary so that they crawl your site whenever you make a new post. If you're using WordPress, it pings the directories automatically. Otherwise, you can use a service like pingoat.com.

You need to create content that gets people coming back to your site again and again. You may create posts such as:

"Top ten" lists. Create several useful top ten lists, and your blog will become the "go to" place for niche-specific information. For example, a weight loss site might list the top ten diets, the top ten weight loss supplements, the top ten exercises, the top ten fat-burning foods and so on.

Product reviews in your niche. Be sure to list the product flaws as well as the good points, as absolute honesty fosters trust... and sales! Be sure to use your affiliate link.

Controversial articles that go viral. Don't be afraid to polarize your audience. You may repel some people, but you'll draw your target market closer to you.

Highly useful content (the type of content that others are selling).

Strong opinion articles (which can often create a buzz). Go ahead and get passionate while taking a strong stand.

Articles that join conversations already going on in your niche. If you take a different viewpoint or form a strong opinion, people will migrate to your blog just because you're offering something different.

Answers to frequently asked questions. (Just visit blogs in your niche to see what sorts of questions people are regularly asking.)

And anything that sets your blog posts apart and gets people talking and linking to your blog.

To Your Success,
Allen Payne

TWEAK and Flip information products

Hi,

Here's another way to profit from information products without having to deal with the product creation yourself.

Namely, by buying, tweaking and then reselling products that come with product label rights (PLR).

PLR products are those products where you purchase the right to modify the product and, generally, do with it as you please (as long as you follow the terms of your PLR license). That means you usually can modify the product, break it up, add it to another PLR product, change the format (e.g., create an audio product or a physical product), sell it, give it away, etc.

Now here's why this can be so extraordinarily profitable...

Even though 20, 200 or even 500 people might have the rights to this same product, very few of them will actually take any action. Of those that take action, most will simply use the PLR product as-is, without any modifications whatsoever.

However, all you have to do is invest an hour or so of your time to modify the product, thereby creating a new, unique product. Then you can change the title, create new ecover graphics and tweak the sales letter.

The best part? That one hour you invested eliminated all your direct competition, because you're selling a unique product!

Quick Tip: You don't even have to rework the product yourself. Visit elance.com or similar to find a competent freelancer willing to rewrite and tweak PLR content. Some will do it for just a few pennies per word.

Here's how to make this profit plan work for you:

1) Start by finding a hungry niche market. Once you do that, then find out what they're already buying. As usual, there's no reason to innovate when you can latch onto a profit from a "sure thing."

2) Find PLR content similar to what your niche is already buying. Search Google for your keywords alongside the word "PLR" or similar. So, for example, "weight loss PLR."

3) Tweak the content. Minimally, that means rewrite the introduction, rewrite the conclusion, rename the chapters and create a new title. Ideally, you should also add to or otherwise modify the content to make it your own.

Quick Tip: You may also "nichefy" the content, which means you tweak it to speak directly to a niche market. So a general weight loss book could become "safe weight loss for teenagers."

To get the most benefit from your PLR investment, you can keep modifying the product to spawn dozens of new products aimed at different niches. So your weight loss book might also be tweaked to target new moms, senior citizens, sedentary office workers, people in wheelchairs and so on!

4) Set up a lead capture system and sales funnel. You may pull in a tidy up front profit from your PLR content, but the real money lays hidden in the backend. That means you should always be selling more products to your existing customers. You can keep selling PLR content, of course. You can even set up a membership site to tap into the backend income effortlessly!

5) Create a sales letter - or tweak the sales letter includes in the package. And then...

6) Drive traffic to your site and start counting your money!

As you can see, this is an extremely fast and easy way to start making money.

Whereas it might take you weeks or even months to create your own product and start selling it, you can buy a PLR package in the morning and be making a profit in the afternoon.

Simple 5 steps to online success...

Hi,

Today we are going to discuss the 5 fundamental steps to online business success. If you can follow these steps and take action upon them, I have no doubt you will become a successful internet marketer.

I personally use this strategy in my online business and it is also used by many other successful marketers to literally make fortunes online.

Step 1. Set Your Initial Goal

The first step in making money online is setting goals. Whether you want to make $50/day or $500/day or more, the first step is to set an initial goal. Having a clear "Goal" lets you know exactly what you are shooting for. More importantly, your goals should be SMART goals:

Specific - Your goals should be clearly defined and very specific. Broad goals aren't allowed.

Measureable - Your goals should involve numbers or some kind of metric.

Attainable - Your goals need to be humanly reachable.

Realistic - Don't set your goal to make $5k per day by next week. This is not realistic.

Timely - Your goals should involve a time measure.

You should also set short term and long term goals. Why? Well, this will allow you to achieve small successes while still seeing the big picture as to where you want to go.

All those who become successful within the Internet Marketing field, or any other business, have set clear goals and never give up until they achieve their goals.

Step 2. Research and Select a Niche Product to Promote

That's why you need to a comprehensive research before you selecting a niche to promote to make sure that the niche you will choose will make you money and it will be worth focusing your internet marketing efforts on..

A niche is basically the segment of populations where you will concentrate your internet marketing efforts to make money and selecting the right one is critical to your success..Because of this, i recommend you pick a niche you have a lot of interest in. The more passionate you are about a niche, the easier it will be to write about, talk about, and make educated and REAL product recommendations.

Step 3. Find Profitable Keywords

You will need to research keywords and the average CPC over an industry before you begin promoting it.

Some industries have hundreds of thousands of keywords, while some are so specific they have a smaller number of search terms. A smaller industry can convert just as well as a large one, so don't be fooled by industries with keywords and low traffic AND definitely do not try to choose a niche simply because someone said it is popular or profitable.

Step 4. Find The Right Affiliate Programs
CJ.com (Commission Junction)
ClickBank.com
JVZoo.com
WarriorPlus.com
If you are using paid traffic techniques like Pay Per Click, you will need to make sure that the affiliate program will pay high enough to make it profitable. You typically want to stick to programs that pay over $10 commission.

If you are using traffic techniques like article marketing, on-site search engine optimization, you do not need to worry as much about the commission as these are free marketing techniques.

Step 5. Start an Advertising Campaign And Make Money

To do so, I recommend that you use only free traffic techniques at first, such as Article Marketing. The reason is this way you can literally get started with ZERO budget. You should also start building a list as this is the most valuable asset you can have in your business.

For more information on this, I recommend you check out the training area on our site.

Take the Leap

Once you have accomplishing the previous 5 steps, it is up to you to take the leap.

To Your Success,
Allen Payne

My Addiction: Do You Have it Too?

Hey !

you're probably wondering what my addiction is. It's a serious problem, but it's not anything like drugs, or gambling or anything like that.

What is it then?

It's checking my online statistics.

Ever since I started blogging and doing business online, I've checked my website stats several times a day. Sometimes up to 20 to 30 times a day, because they're so fun to look at! I love checking my web traffic, counting my Twitter followers and Facebook Fans, and number of sales too.

I recently realized, however, that checking stats that often does absolutely nothing, and really it slows down production because you're constantly interrupting what you're supposed to be doing.

Even though it takes just a minute or two, those minutes quickly add up - especially when you think about it over the period of a year, for example.

When talking to other bloggers and internet marketers about this problem, a lot of people feel the exact same way. I think it's pretty common because when we're first starting out, the traffic and all of the other statistics are what keep us going, and it's what we strive for. But, constantly checking won't change the numbers. Spending time on your content, your marketing strategies, your newsletter or website design - those things will help your numbers.

It's still important to check stats, don't get me wrong, but I've recently made an effort to only check my stats once a day, at 5pm - and that's it. Checking it any number of times before that is just a waste of time.

Like my Dad always says: "A watched pot never boils".

Do you have this issue, or is it just me?

Thanks viet!

Cheers!

Pat

Here's Why I Don't Create a Daily To-Do List

Hi !

Recently, I've been getting a lot of questions from people about how I stay productive, specifically asking for tips and tricks that I use to stay on track and get things done.

Here's a tip that I use (I'm not saying it's what you should do, it's just what I do that works for me). It may sound counter-intuitive, but I do not write down a detailed daily to-do list. I used to, but I don't anymore. Consequently, I've been getting more done, and feeling better about myself at the end of the day.

Let me explain:

With a daily to-do list, you spend the night before or the day of listing the things that you want to accomplish. We try to judge how long something will take to complete, so as not to overfill our day and leave us with unfinished jobs on the list.

Unfortunately, no matter how much of an expert you are at estimating the length of time it takes to complete a job, the daily to-do list never gets fully checked off. At least this was the case for me.

I wouldn't "overbook" myself. No. What normally happened was that there were unforeseen tasks or things that came up during the day that I had to do, which were sometimes more important and time-sensitive than what was on my list. Think of an urgent email that you have to respond to, or an emergency meeting or conference call that you must attend.

Those kinds of things are the ANTI-daily to-do list. What you had originally put on your list gets shoved to the back of the line, and often times you finish the day with an unfinished list and feel like you didn't accomplish as much as you wanted to, if anything at all.

That's not good for motivation, that's for sure.

The solution to my problem is a system I worked out which involves project to-do lists, not daily to-do lists.

Every project I'm involved in, whether it's a particular project for my blog, my LEED exam prep site, a particular iPhone application that I may be working on, etc. gets it's own to-do list.

The project to-do list is easy to create: just start at the bottom with your end goal (finish project X), and work your way backwards from there. You'll have a roadmap to completion all written out, and can easily check things off as you go along.

When I work, I simply allocate specific amounts of time "working on project X", or "working on project Y", depending on my mood, or what may seem to be more time sensitive. When "working on project X", I work on the next available task on its own project to-do list, without trying to reach a specific point by the end of the day. I just work on it as much as I can in the time given, and check off parts of the list as I go.

Of course, some tasks are required to be put on a schedule, such as writing blog posts (which should be done consistently), so there will be some things that require you to finish stuff within a certain amount of time, or on a specific date, but I try to keep that to a minimum.

Using this method, I find that I can get much more done. I don't know whether it's because I work better because I'm not stressed out about meeting "little deadlines" throughout the day, or because I'm super motivated whenever I check off a task on my project to-do lists, but it works, at least for me!

So, that's a little backstage pass as to how I get things done. If you're having trouble with productivity, or always feel like you're not getting things done, feel free to give this method a try.

Wishing you all of the best, and nothing less than success.

Cheers!

Best regards,
Pat

What to Write When You Just Can't Write

Hey !

I know it's been a couple of weeks since I last sent you a newsletter, but no worries - I will never give up on this newsletter! You can be sure of that!

I've got another pretty cool tip for you today.

It's all about filler posts.

What's a filler post?

Well, a filler post is a type of post that you can publish on your blog when you want to stick to a posting schedule, but you just don't have any real content ready, or you just don't have the energy to write.

I often find myself lacking energy to write, and when that's the case I can always substitute a filler post. I stick to my posting schedule, and my audience will never know there was any lack of energy.

So what exactly is a filler post?

It's nothing totally new, and most likely you've seen or even published a number of these yourself before - it's just nice to know exactly what kinds of posts they are in case you're feeling a bit behind or lethargic:

Guest Posts or Interviews - These are fantastic, because most of the content is created by other people! (Hopefully people who have excellent advice and things to say that would be helpful to your readers). Of course, you'll have to prepare these ahead of time, and it's always good to connect with other bloggers and experts in the field for networking purposes.

Ask The Readers - Don't have enough content for one post, but have a subject in mind? Why not ask your audience what they think? You'll get a slew of comments, build a sense of community, and the best part is that they'll all create the content for you! Then, you can do a followup post talking about what people said at a later time, and your audience will feel included and come back for more.

Case Studies - Case studies are great, because you're basically reporting on something. So, as far as the "hard-core thinking" goes, it's minimal, because your data becomes the content itself.

Monthly Reports - You know I'm a big fan of Monthly Reports. My monthly income reports have because the number one most viewed and most commented on post that I write, and honestly - it's one of the easiest posts that I write too. It's easy because again, a lot of it is just reporting and data, and secondly it's a lot of fun! Plus, since you're doing it monthly, it's something you KNOW you're going to write about, and something your readers have to look forward to as well.

Links to Other Blogs - You see this one a lot, and it's great because it's super easy, and super helpful for your audience. Get them connected to other people in your niche by linking to certain posts that you've read that you think would be great to pass on to your readers. In addition, the blogs you link to will mostly likely take notice, which may spark a profitable relationship in the future.

Links to Posts in Your Archive - Every day we get new people to visit our blog, so it's impossible for everyone to know everything you've ever written. That's why it's easy to get them to read killer posts that you've written in the past that might be buried in your archives, by simply listing a number of posts from the past that you'd like to share. Be sure to include a little snippet or summary, to get people excited about reading some of your older stuff.

Personal Stuff - Some of you may not be comfortable with sharing personal things on your blog, but if you don't mind, sharing personal things can be an easy filler post that actually does a lot of good. It helps show that you're a real person, and it gets your audience to connect with you on a more personal level. You're not just a blogger or a person who writes posts, you're viet.

So there you have it, a number of different types of Filler Posts you can use at your disposal if you're ever searching for fast content, or just don't have the energy to write a full blown blog post.

I hope you're enjoying the newsletter so far! Cheers viet!

Wishing you nothing less than success,

Pat

This is how Social Proof Made Me over $3000 in 3 days

Hey Viet,

I hope all is well with you!

I've got something really cool to share with you in this email. I wanted to write a blog post about it, but I decided to keep it exclusive to you and others who are subscribed to my newsletter.

In one of my income report a while back, something I did at the end of the report helped me earn over $3000 during the following 3 days.

The cool thing is that I didn't sell or tell people to purchase anything.

So how did I make $3000?

I'll tell you, but I first have to credit my buddy Mark Mason from http://www.masonworld.com for showing me the way. I had heard about this technique before, but it was on Mark's blog where I actually saw it take place. If you're not following Mark already, I definitely recommend that you do - he knows his stuff, and is one of the nicest guys I know.

Anyways, let me break it down for you in steps:
Find a product that you'd like to promote as an affiliate, preferably one that you've used before, are familiar with and are confident in your recommendation to others (that's my rule for anything I promote).
Contact the creator or owner of that product, and try to get at least 1 free copy that you can give away to your audience. If you can't make that happen, buy some additional copies of your own to give away.
On your site (blogs work best, you'll see why), hold a contest to win those free copies of the product. To enter the contest, people have to leave a public comment about how that product would help them, and what they would do with it.  Make sure those comments are where other people can see them - this is why blogs work best, since they already have a visual commenting structure.
The links to that product that you tell people to view before they leave a comment should be your affiliate link for that product.
Why This Works:

This works because:
People love to get free stuff, so you'll get more people in front of that product (through your affiliate link), because of your contest.
When people leave their comments (there were almost 300 comments on that post), everyone else sees what everyone is saying about that product. That's promotional material - not from you but from other people, which is much more powerful. That's social proof at it's finest right there.
You're not directly promoting anything, and you're not seen as someone just trying to earn a buck. Everybody is a winner!
If the product is good, and has a good landing page (like Instant Article Factory did for me), then it will practically sell itself.

If you can contact the owner like I did, have him or her setup a special price just for you for a certain number of days, then you can increase your affiliate sales even more.

I never once told people they should buy Instant Article Factory, they made that decision on their own based on everyone else's recommendation and praise about the product.

It works.

I hope you enjoyed that cool marketing tip! Here's to you and your success. Cheers!

Can Blogs REALLY Earn Passive Income?

Hey!

I hope you're doing well!

A lot of people who learn about what I do understand that I have a bunch of businesses that earn a passive income each and every month (my LEED exam website, my iPhone app business, etc.) but then they see how much work I do for the Smart Passive Income Blog (and the podcast), and they tell me that a blog definitely is not passive because of all the work it takes to maintain.

At first, I usually agreed with the majority. A blog definitely isn't a means of passive income because a blog does take a lot of constant and consistent work. If you want to build a community of fans and build a ton of authority and trust, you definitely can't just write a few posts and let it run on auto-pilot like you can do with a niche site, for example.

That being said, a thought occurred to me the other day that I thought was sort of interesting. A blog can earn money passively, just not 100% hands-off like some other types of online businesses.

You see, when you write a blog post and maybe use it to sell a product or recommend a product that you are an affiliate for, after it's published it's up there forever - as long as your blog stays alive.

The more you post, the more opportunities there are for people to land on one of your posts from Google, or search through your archives and possibly click through an affiliate link that you posted however long ago.

So in essence, each and every post you write is a passive income opportunity. Even if it doesn't include a link to a product, it could be a post that someone enjoys and uses to learn more about what you do and eventually land on a post that does include an affiliate link or a product that you sell.

Of course, you'd have to maintain the blog and keep your community thriving, which is why this isn't a 100% hands off passive income method, but you're not trading your hours for dollars and you do give yourself an opportunity to make money while you sleep.

This is why when people ask me what would I do if I had to start all over again, I say I wouldn't change a thing - I'd start a blog and build a community around something I enjoy writing about.

Just some food for thought for you today. Keep writing, keep pushing along, keep providing great content and you're going to arrive at great things in your business and in life.

Cheers!

Best regards,
Pat
